◮ Because rain is the closest thing I have to tears

  ~ INFO ~

Title: Thunderhead
Author: Neal Shusterman
Publisher: Walker Books
Price:   paperback £ 7,99
                ebook £ 4,99
Plot: Rowan has gone rogue, and has taken it upon himself to put the Scythedom through a trial by fire. Literally. In the year since Winter Conclave, he has gone off-grid, and has been striking out against corrupt scythes—not only in MidMerica, but across the entire continent. He is a dark folk hero now—“Scythe Lucifer”—a vigilante taking down corrupt scythes in flames.

Citra, now a junior scythe under Scythe Curie, sees the corruption and wants to help change it from the inside out, but is thwarted at every turn, and threatened by the “new order” scythes. Realizing she cannot do this alone—or even with the help of Scythe Curie and Faraday, she does the unthinkable, and risks being “deadish” so she can communicate with the Thunderhead—the only being on earth wise enough to solve the dire problems of a perfect world. But will it help solve those problems, or simply watch as perfection goes into decline?

~My Wandering Thoughts ~

So, for those of you who don`t know it, I really liked Scythe. It`s maybe one of my favourite books for 2017, therefore my expectations for the sequel were very, very high.

Unfortunately, I was a bit disappointed. I`ll start with the things I didn`t like.
This book was ssslooooowww, it took me almost a month to finish it and it put me in a reading slump because I knew that if I didn`t finish it then, I was never going to pick it up again. The book was slow because it focuses on a new character, who I didn`t dislike (on the contrary, I liked Greyson), I would have preferred that he was introduced to us in the first book alongside Citra`s and Rowan`s storyline.

That way the book was, as I mentioned before, very slow, added to the fact that not much happened to the others. It was more political, but, if I really enjoyed Scythe`s politics, the Thunderhead`s ones bored me. WHat was interesting was also reading the Thunderhead`s thoughts and understanding why things work the way they do in this dystopic society. The worldbuilding in this book is something majestic. The way the author created everything just...makes sense. What I mean by that is that it`s something that could
actually happen in the future, seeing the way technology is quickly evolving nowadays, and it`s made even more realistic by the way we are told what happened in the past, and all the events that lead to this Thunderhead (aka an evolution of the Cloud) to be a part of everyone`s lives.
Regarding the characters, I`m so sad to say that I didn`t really care for them, I just wanted to see what would happen to them. I couldn`t feel empathy, on the contrary, I didn`t really like Citra. I have to say that the secondary characters were so well developed, like, none of them felt stereotypical or put there just to do their thing and then discarded.
The events were quite predictable (at least, for me), but I still wanted to see where the author wanted to lead the reader.
There are things that I liked, for example, THE ENDING. That Cliffhanger. omg. I don`t want to spoil anything but that ending added a star to the rating because I could have not predicted that in a million years. It was so bittersweet and redeemed a character that I didn`t really care for, that is, Scythe Curie.
I can`t wait to read the next book because that cliffhanger was pure evil.
I think that I would have enjoyed the book more without my expectations. I expected much better from the author, but it`s a very good book nonetheless. The writing style is on point, that is, it`s not too descriptive but the reader has a clear idea of the places and people anyway.
